Florida Sliding Glass Door Repair
Repaired sliding glass door track with a track cover
Sliding glass door repair

Track repair.

A grooved or dented bottom track chews through rollers and makes the door grind every time it moves. We repair the rail and cap it in stainless steel so the panel rolls on a smooth, hard surface again.

What we handle

Signs the track is the problem.

  • A grinding or scraping sound follows the door as it slides
  • You can see grooves, dents, or flattened metal in the bottom rail
  • The door hops, catches, or comes off the track partway across
  • New rollers were installed and the door still feels rough
  • Dirt and grit pack into the channel and will not sweep clean
  • The rail edge is bent upward or curled from a dropped panel

Repairing the rail instead of replacing the frame.

The bottom rail of a sliding glass door carries the full weight of the panel on two small wheels. Over years of daily use in Central Florida, sand and grit grind a valley into the soft aluminum, and once that valley exists the rollers drop into it and stop rolling cleanly.

We remove the panel, clear the channel, straighten what can be straightened, and fit a track cover over the existing rail. The cap gives the rollers a hard, smooth surface that resists the wear that damaged the original aluminum.

That means we do not have to cut out the frame or disturb the stucco and drywall around it. The door keeps its frame and gets a new running surface.
